Mosaics
Artist Vladimir Sierra has been dreaming up Mosaics since his 2000 trip to Spain. The depth he's able to achieve with color, patterns and shapes is impressive.

Ward, this one is really cool. Some of these, especially the one you posted would make for some totally cool background images. I just love the effects.
The background images would be something, I really like the inventiveness of mosaic that has the monkeys riding on the crest of the wave as well.
